YA Scavenger Hunt!
Welcome to YA Scavenger Hunt! This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors...and a chance to win some awesome prizes! On this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize--one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 120 hours!
Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are SIX contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the ORANGE TEAM--but there is also a red team, a gold team, a green team, a purple team, and a pink team for a chance to win a whole different set of books!
If you'd like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.

Today, I am hosting Katy Upperman on my website for the YA Scavenger Hunt!
Katy Upperman is a graduate of Washington State University, a former elementary school teacher, and an insatiable reader. When not writing novels for young adults, Katy can be found whipping up batches of chocolate chip cookies or exploring the country with her husband and girls. KISSING MAX HOLDEN and THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF US are available now, and Katy’s third novel, HOW THE LIGHT GETS IN, is scheduled for Summer, 2019.
SUMMARY - The last thing Elise wants is to start her senior year in a new town. But after her brother’s death in Afghanistan, she and her mother move from San Francisco to a sleepy coastal village. When Elise meets Mati, they quickly discover how much they have in common. Mati is new to town too, visiting the U.S. with his family. Over the course of the summer, their relationship begins to blossom, and what starts out as a friendship becomes so much more. But as Elise and Mati grow closer, her family becomes more and more uncomfortable with their relationship, and their concerns all center on one fact—Mati is Afghan. Beautifully written, utterly compelling, and ultimately hopeful, THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF US asks—how brave can you be when your relationship is questioned by everyone you love?

What better way to get a feeling for Katy’s upcoming book than an aesthetic board! I’m obsessed with these, and love seeing #aestheticthursdays taking over booktwitter every week. Authors paint pictures with their words. But it’s pretty cool to see a representation of the story that goes beyond the cover image.
First up we have
AESTHETIC 1 - DREAMS - The Impossibility of Us’s main character, Elise, dreams of going to art school in San Fransisco, where she’ll study photography. She wants to be a photo journalist and travel the world, telling peoples’ stories with her camera. She also longs for a happily ever after with Mati.
AESTHETIC 2 - SETTING - The Impossibility of Us is set in a fictional California town called Cypress Beach, for which I drew inspiration from Carmel-by-the-Sea. Elise and Mati both live in charming cottages, and they spend tons of time at the beach with Elise’s dog, Bambi. They visit a local park together at night, and make a trip to the nearby national cemetery where Elise’s brother, who was killed in Afghanistan, is buried
Don't forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of books, hosted author's name, and more! To enter, you need to know the secret number 10. Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the orange team and you'll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize!
